Key Questions To Ask Before Your SET Plan

These are the three key questions to answer before charting an initial road map for your successful Succession & Transition.  Notice the operative word in each question is “want”. Consider your answers under two sets of circumstances;

    First – As though your departure from your company is completely voluntary on your part.

    Secondly – As though your departure is involuntary, untimely and unsuspected. Without any input on your         part, how would you like it to look?

  1. How much longer do you want to work in your business before retiring or moving on?
  1. What is the annual after-tax income you want during your retirement (in today’s dollars)?
  2. Who do you want to transfer your business to?

What do you feel you have done to this point to plan for your ultimate exit, voluntary or otherwise?
What have you done to make sure that you will be able to exit your business on your terms?
What have you done to make sure that you will meet your exit timing goals?
